What is Wi-Fi Calling?
Wi-Fi Calling is also called VoWiFi- meaning “Voice over Wi-Fi”
You do not need an extra app. Calls are made directly from your phone’s normal Phone/Dialer app.
Wi-Fi Calling on skitto lets you make and receive regular voice phone calls and SMS using a Wi-Fi connection where your mobile signal is weak or unavailable.
When is Wi-Fi Calling useful?
Wi-Fi Calling can help when you are:
- In a basement
- Inside a high-rise building
- In other indoor areas where cellular coverage is low or unavailable
So, basically, In a place where mobile signal is weak, but you have wifi availability.
Does the other person need Wi-Fi Calling?
No. The person you call does not need VoWiFi or VoLTE.
Does my phone need VoLTE?
Yes. VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling must both be turned ON from your mobile phone settings.
What if my Wi-Fi disconnects during a call?
The call can switch to the cellular network automatically without dropping, subject to cellular network availability.
Can dual-SIM phones use it?
Yes, when enabled in the phone settings for skitto SIM
Can I use Wi-Fi Calling with two SIMs?
Yes. Wi-Fi Calling can be used on both SIMs when the feature is enabled in the phone’s settings.
Can I use Wi-Fi Calling with a VPN or Airplane Mode?
No.
Can I make international calls?
Yes, according to the applicable standard ISD tariff.
Is Wi-Fi Calling available during international roaming?
No.
How do I know it is active?
Look for the Wi-Fi Calling icon on the phone’s status bar during a call.
What happens when I move between Wi-Fi and mobile network?
If the Wi-Fi connection is lost during a call, the call can automatically switch to the cellular network without dropping (subject to cellular network availability)
Why is Wi-Fi Calling not working?
Check that your phone software is updated, VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling are ON, your Wi-Fi is supported and stable, and your SIM has been provisioned. Also make sure VPN and Airplane Mode are OFF.
Does mobile signal strength matter?
No. Wi-Fi quality and stability are more important for Wi-Fi Calling.
Which phones support Wi-Fi Calling?
Only supported/certified handset models can use the service. Check the supported device list.
Which Wi-Fi networks support Wi-Fi Calling?
Only listed/supported ISP networks can be used.
